PETR BRANDL: THE STORY OF A BOHEMIAN

czePraha - Valdštejnská jízdárna After over fifty years, this exhibition will show the work of the most important Baroque artist in Bohemia ⁠–⁠ Petr Brandl. It will present his monumental altarpieces, which have been restored specially for the occasion, as well as his portraits and genre paintings of very interesting subject matter. Visitors will also see newly discovered works by Brandl for the very first time.

czePraha - Valdštejsnká jízdárna The history of Buddhist art since its beginnings will be presented for the first time in the Czech Republic in an exhibition organized by the National Gallery Prague and the Museum Rietberg Zurich. It will be the first opportunity to see masterpieces of Buddhist art created between the second and twentieth centuries from the collections of the Museum Rietberg Zurich and the National Gallery Prague. In addition to the major works of art that will be on show the exhibition will also employ multimedia features to guide visitors through different thematic chapters of this subject and introduce them to the origins and spread of Buddhism in the cultures of Asia and to the symbolic meanings of Buddhist art.

At the beginning of his career, he was influenced by the Surrealist group and later became a leading figure of Art Informel and non-figurative painting.

czePraha - Valdštejnská jízdárna The exhibition waThe exhibition seeks to present Josef Šíma’s early work from his beginnings inBrnoto his encounter with the poets of the remarkable and today somehow legendary French group Le Grand Jeu and show to what extent his involvement in this adventure was one of the key impulses for his work. In the brief period of 1929–1931, Šíma became the chief artist of the group and the other members–poets were busy interpreting his artworks.ill show Kupka’s entire oeuvre, from his early works of the 1890s to his abstract artworks of the 1950s. Owing to cooperation with the French partner, a unique collection of oil paintings, works on paper, prints and documentary material could be assembled, and will be presented in the Grand Palais in Paris in spring 2018, then in the National Gallery in Prague in autumn 2019 (in an altered form) and then the Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki in spring 2019.

czePraha - Valdštejnská jízdárna The exhibition will show Kupka’s entire oeuvre, from his early works of the 1890s to his abstract artworks of the 1950s. Owing to cooperation with the French partner, a unique collection of oil paintings, works on paper, prints and documentary material could be assembled, and will be presented in the Grand Palais in Paris in spring 2018, then in the National Gallery in Prague in autumn 2019 (in an altered form) and then the Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki in spring 2019.

czePraha - Valdštejnská jízdárna  Výstava Františka Skály představí převážně práce vzniklé od roku 2004 do současnosti. Instalace bude pracovat s výstavním prostorem jako celkem, jeho světelnou atmosférou, a bude obsahovat jak rozličné výstavní pavilony, tak solitérní monumentální díla, světelné instalace i práce vytvořené přímo pro prostor Jízdárny. Od 15.6. se výstava rozroste i mimo prostory galerie - na Malostranském nám. vyroste "Prastánek", organicko- rukodělný objekt vytesaný s třista let starého dubu.
